Forest Hills Cemetery, consecrated in 1848 and one of America's most lovely rural garden cemeteries, has been designated an historic landmark by the National Register of Historic Places. It is a unique Boston cultural resource and historic site with its 250 acres offering the public a magnificent arboretum, open air museum, and tranquil sanctuary just minutes from downtown Boston.

The Weld Lot, pictured here, was purchased by James Weld (1788-1867) about 1850 when his second wife sold the Cushman crypt in downtown Boston's Copps Hill Burying Ground. As the Designated Representative for this gravesite, I have researched both family and cemetery records and identified at least 30 individuals buried in 10 of the 12 graves. Two are still available for descendants.
