Colliers' Arms - Ernest Edwards Proprietor
Colliers' Arms - Ernest Edwards Proprietor
Status: Located; Sandra Edwards remembers...
During our 1994 trip, Dan and I arrived at the Colliers Arms just as the owner was locking up (noonish). Nice middleaged man, who, when we told him of our quest immediately opened up and had us come in. We took pictures inside and out. He knew well of the Edwards clan - and, laughing, told us there were a lot of Edwards around and Grampa Edwards must have had a fast bicycle. There were hops hanging from the ceiling the length of the bar. From what he said, other than upkeep, not much has changed through the years. He insisted Dan get behind the bar and that I take his picture there. Here, Dan in the blue jacket, is seen leaving the Arms.

Edward Edwards (1849-1926)
Status: Located; Beryl Penfold remembers...
Stories passed down through descendants make it clear that Grampa Edwards typically had a mug of beer in hand. He loved to go to the pub and often imbibed too much. He went by horse and when he came home, the horse would dump him off at the barn. Grandma Edwards would not let him in the house in his condition and he spent many a night in the barn.

Edward Edwards 1849-1926 Headstone
Edward Edwards 1849-1926 Headstone
The headstone is in the graveyard of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Doddington, UK. The church was built in the 1840's to serve as a poorman's church for the quarrymen and farm workers. It is located on A4117 midway between Ludlow and Cleobury Mortimer, 18 miles from Kidderminster. It is about one mile from Faulkner's Fold and served many members of the Edwards family.
