Isabel Mahala (Heath) Richardson 1824-1911

Ann Payne remembers: In 1996, my mother, two sisters and I were there [Seaview Cemetery] and found the stones for Isabel's daughters [Lilla Belle and Addie Belle] but not for her. We knew she had died and was buried in Maine. I contacted a funeral home in Rockland to see if they might have information on the burial place and, just by chance, picked the right one. They had all the information and my sisters Dorothy and Vivian and our cousin Helen had the stone placed there in 2002. We felt she had been without a tombstone long enough. In October 2002, my husband Dan and I went there to see it for ourselves.

DV Freeman Note: For years, my cousins Guy & Nathalie (Edwards) Nicholas and Howard & Vivian Edwards have been placing flowers on the grave of their grandmother Addie Belle (Heath, Richardson) Howard in Sea View Cemetery, Rockland Maine. Suddenly, in 2002, they discovered a nearby gravestone for Addie's aunt Isabel (Heath) Richardson, the aunt that had adopted her when she was given up by her father Orville Heath. Through some genealogical sleuthing, we identified Ann (Verts) Payne of Missouri as the great, great granddaughter of Isabel and, therefore, a 3rd cousin once removed to the Edwards siblings. These distant cousins have now connected, have exchanged information on their common ancestors, and are looking forward to meeting face-to-face.

Weld: Forest Hills Cemetery, Hemlock Avenue, Lot 368
Forest Hills Cemetery, consecrated in 1848 and one of America's most lovely rural garden cemeteries, has been designated an historic landmark by the National Register of Historic Places. It is a unique Boston cultural resource and historic site with its 250 acres offering the public a magnificent arboretum, open air museum, and tranquil sanctuary just minutes from downtown Boston.

The Weld Lot, pictured here, was purchased by James Weld (1788-1867) about 1850 when his second wife sold the Cushman crypt in downtown Boston's Copps Hill Burying Ground. As the Designated Representative for this gravesite, I have researched both family and cemetery records and identified at least 30 individuals buried in 10 of the 12 graves. Two are still available for descendants.
